Emmie Runciman
Chief Executive

Emmie is the founder and CEO of Private Practice Management Ltd (PPML). She completed a degree in Psychology and Sociology in 2003 and became a private Personal Assistant and Practice Manager at the BUPA Hospital before launching Private Practice Management Ltd in 2005. Emmie is also a qualified Executive Coach, which she finds helpful in supporting not only her staff but the consultants and physicians she works with.

Emmie understands the need for providing an efficient, reliable, reasonably priced private medical secretarial service to consultant surgeons and physicians. Consultants need a supportive medical secretary who understands not only their specialty but the requirements of their patients.

Emmie therefore employs secretaries who are communicative and emotionally sensitive, assertive, and autonomous. Emmie’s background in Psychology allows her to provide a supportive role to her staff and patients undergoing treatment.

The team at PPML successfully support over 70 consultants’ private practice across the UK. Emmie prides herself on the fact that all of the consultant customers who started with her in 2005 are still using the service… 20 years on!

Chief Operating Officer

Alice has been with Private Practice Management for 10 years having worked her way up from Administrative Assistant to Chief Operating Officer (COO).

In her COO role Alice is responsible for the retention and recruitment of staff, offering them support and ensuring they are equipped and able to deliver the level of service our consultants deserve.  Alice works very closely with Emmie, ensuring stability and success in the company.

In her own words: “I love working at PPML, I am inspired daily by the professionals I work with and I strive to deliver the best care to our patients. I have a young family so outside of work you will find me out with my boys on their bikes or if I’m really lucky on my own enjoying a run in the countryside”.

Lauren Peverall
General Manager

Lauren has been with the company for over seven years, bringing with her an extensive customer service background, including four years of experience working within an injury rehabilitation company. Lauren is our General Manager, providing support to consultants, patients, the team of Private Medical PA’s, the COO and the CEO. She loves her role and her main focus is always providing a seamless service. 

In her own words: “In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family and going for days out with my daughter Mila and dog Leo!”

Deanna Wafer
Executive PA

Deanna had worked in a GP surgery for nearly five years where she found her love for her career as a medical secretary, she then left her role to follow her dream of travelling Australia. Once Deanna moved home, she restarted her career as a medical secretary. Deanna loves helping people in as many ways as possible, which brings her joy to know she has made a difference.

In her own words: “In my free time, I enjoy going hiking with my dog & husband, travelling to new places and cooking!”

Rachael Heseltine
Executive PA

Rachael has a wealth of private medical PA experience and strives to provide the best possible service for patients and her consultants. 

In her own words: With over 8 years of experience as a private medical secretary I have built my career supporting consultants and patients across a wide range of specialities.  As Team Leader I am passionate about delivering exceptional patient care, maintaining the highest standards of organisation and ensuring the smooth day to day running of all practices, whilst also encouraging my team to do the same.  

Outside of work I enjoy spending quality time with my family, going on long walks and baking treats with my son.”

Aimee Hughes
Team Leader

Aimee previously worked in a GP practice for seven years, before taking a five year gap working overseas in lots of different countries.  Her career then took her back into the NHS, where she looked after a team of Receptionists and Administrators.  Aimee has a wealth of knowledge in the private medical secretary field and thrives in a role where she is co-ordinating clinicians.

In her own words: “I love exploring new places and creating adventures.  I am passionate in cooking and enjoy designing new recipes for family and friends to try.”

Joanna Michaelas
Team Leader

Prior to joining PPML Joanna has been a private medical secretary for one year and has dealt with a number of specialities. During her time as a private medical secretary she has gained a Merit Grade in Mediterm Intermediate Award in Medical Terminology. She enjoys being a friendly and empathetic presence for all patients.

In her own words: “In my free time you are most likely to find me spending time with my dog, a cockapoo named Harvey or watching Formula 1 Racing. On the weekends I am always spending time with my extended Greek family.”

Ella Scanlon
Team Leader

Prior to working with us Ella has gained over two years experience working in a private clinic. Ella is amazing with patients, looking after them every step of the way on their journey.

In her own words: “I love spending time socialising with family and friends, having meals out and going for beach walks with my partner and dog.  Meeting new people is so exciting to me. I also have a keen interest in interior design!”

Mollie Falk-Jones
Private Medical PA

Mollie previously worked for three years as a team leader and medico-legal secretary in a psychology firm. She has a passion for putting patients first and ensuring they receive the best possible care. 

In her own words: “I love spending time with my family as well as going for long walks with my dog. I have completed a degree in Sports Education and Development and my one passion is netball – training and competing every week.”

Katie Lowe
Private Medical PA

Katie joined PPML after working for the ambulance service for over 10 years in a face to face role.

In her own words:  “Meeting and talking to new people is a real passion of mine and having always worked in a caring profession, I find it comes second nature to me and I love to help people!  I have travelled all over the world and am now enjoying being a dog mum and spend my spare time taking them on new adventures in our campervan!”

Laura Peacock

Laura has a wealth of experience within Private Healthcare. She gets real satisfaction from knowing that she can help patients in what can be a very worrying time.

In her own words: “I am a very empathetic person and love the feeling of seeing something through to the end with a positive ending. In my spare time I enjoy football, reading and going to the gym.”

Vanessa Nagalingum
Private Medical PA

Vanessa has been a Medical PA for over ten years.  She started her career in the NHS and subsequently moved to the private sector over seven years ago.  

In her own words: “As a mum, I love spending time with my family and making memories.  I love cooking and am always coming up with new recipes.  I also love to dance and enjoy long walks and travelling is my real passion.”

Rebecca Ryan

Becca previous worked as a lead Receptionist in a  functional medicine clinic, she also has extensive PA experience.

In her own words: Outside of work I love spending quality time with family and friends. I have a real passion for travelling and being outdoors, my partner and I always love a good hike! I adore being around animals and have recently really enjoyed getting into baking.”

Gemma Mason

Gemma is a highly experienced medical secretary with over 20 years of expertise in both the NHS and private healthcare settings. Throughout her career, she has developed a deep understanding of medical terminology, patient care coordination, and administrative processes. Her extensive experience has allowed her to build strong communication skills, manage complex scheduling, and provide exceptional support to medical professionals and patients alike. 

In her own words: “Helping patients on their journey is what makes my job worthwhile. Outside of work I like to spend time with my family and dogs, travelling, or relaxing with a good book.”

Laura Sucharyna Thomas

Having worked as an NHS secretary for two years, Laura’s passion for healthcare continues to grow. She loves working closely with multiple clinicians to provide patients with high-quality support throughout their pathway. Laura is a naturally compassionate person and it’s so important to her that patients feel safe and confident in her ability in coordinating their care. 

In her own words: “In my downtime, you’ll mostly find me reading or at the gym. Having moved to Wales earlier this year, I’m spending a lot of time exploring new walking trails and enjoying countryside life as well!’

Beth Martell

Beth joins PPML with a Medicolegal background, working with experts to provide reports to clients. 

In her own words: “I love being outside and spending time with my friends and family. I have a degree in sports therapy which I use regularly to help with the medical side of things within my local rugby club. I really enjoy working with people and providing the best possible service to clients, helping people is a passion of mine and comes second nature to me.”

Jaiden Sayer

Jaiden has been a Medical PA since 2024.

In her own words: “Outside of work I love to spend time with my niece and nephew who love to keep me on my toes, I also love to go for long walks with my dog (Roo) where we spend most our time at the beach.

I love anything creative and enjoy doing arts and crafts, lately I have been enjoying making jewellery for me and my friends and family.”

Ellen joined PPML following three years working as a Medico-legal Secretary in a psychology firm.  She finds true fulfilment in being able to support patients and provide the best possible service. 

In her own words:  “In my spare time I love spending time outdoors, whether its going for a walk in nature, hiking or simply enjoying the fresh air.  Being outside helps me recharge and clear my mind.  I also enjoy pursuing creative hobbies such as painting, baking and crafting, which allow me to express myself and unwind.”  

Molly Clarke
Private Medical PA

Molly started her healthcare journey as an admin apprentice in a GP surgery, where she quickly realised how much she enjoys supporting patients and being part of their care. She helped patients navigate appointments, referrals, and the day‑to‑day details that can feel overwhelming. She then moved into working as a Personal Assistant within private hospitals and loves it.

In her own words: “Outside of work I love spending time with my family and friends, especially our family dog, who is always at the centre of everything. I enjoy travelling and exploring new places, and I’m happiest running through the countryside or wandering around the village where I live. We recently renovated our home, and I’ve really enjoyed decorating and designing it to be our own.”

Kim Teale

Prior to joining PPML, Kim worked for the NHS and has been a private medical secretary for 5+ years, specialising in ENT. Kim takes pride in being organised and reliable and is committed to giving a positive experience to everyone that she works with.

In her own words: “Outside of work I love to spend time with my family & friends and enjoy taking my rescue pup Ollie to the beach. I am always looking forward to my next holiday!”

Gill Slee
Private Medical PA

Gill has worked as a private medical secretary and in various departments at Spire Healthcare for 15 years.

In her own words: “I get great satisfaction from helping patients throughout their patient journey, putting them first and providing a high standard of customer service. I enjoy creating a strong working relationship with consultants and clinicians to help grow their private practices.

Outside of work I thoroughly enjoy mountain climbing and trail running especially in The Lake District and Scotland. I am in the process of completing all the Wainwrights.”

Poppy Tydeman

Poppy brings with her experience from within hospital settings – having worked in a busy imaging department, scheduling procedures and appointments and within a bookings team.

In her own words: “Outside of work, I play international netball for Wales as well as representing team Bath. I love going to the gym and enjoy runs that end at different coffee shops in Bath. I have a degree in Health and Exercise Science and am passionate about helping others live healthy, happy lives!”

Charlotte Moore
Private Medical PA

For the past seven years Charlotte has worked her way from Ward Clark to Admin Line Manager at the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Hospital.  She is excited to start working in private healthcare.

In her own words: I pride myself on being a hardworking, reliable and friendly person. I get a lot of job satisfaction out of helping patients and ensuring they have the best possible experience throughout their care. Since 2012 Rachel has worked in medical administration from Medical Receptionist to Personal Assistant to Practice Manager.  Most recently working in a multi-specialty private practice working with many surgeons and GP’s. 

In her own words: “During my free time you can often find me at the beach or burrows with my two springer spaniels! I love working with people and helping them to feel better by ensuring then experience a seamless administration service.”

 

Maria Schneider

Maria has worked as a administrator in the private healthcare sector for over 3 years and enjoys the fast paced environment as well as helping patients and consultants achieve an easier flow to their daily life with her organisation and problem-solving skills. 

In her own words: “I enjoy spending time with friends (and family when I get to travel back home!) nice dinners, brunches and activities such as Pilates and going to concerts.” 

Alyce Hart
Private Medical PA

Alyce has 19 years’ experience as a Private Medical Secretary, She has supported private GPs and Consultants across a range of specialist fields including spinal surgery, foot and ankle surgery, neurosurgery, and diabetes and endocrinology.
